After sitting on the shelf for two years due to MGM's financial difficulties, director Drew Goddard and co-writer Joss Whedon's The Cabin in the Woods finally found a distributor in Lionsgate this past April. The first image from the film has finally gone online and shockingly it shows people in a cabin (cabin may or may not be in the woods). Details on the plot have remained scarce since the project was first announced but Goddard and Whedon have indicated that the film will be their spin on the \"Cabin in the Woods\" horror sub-genre.Hit the jump to check out the image. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchinson, Fran Kanz, Jesse Williams, Bradley Whitford, and Richard Jenkins. No release date has been announced but there are rumors Lionsgate could open it in the fall to replace the Saw franchise.Image via Bloody Disgusting. Richard L. Proenneke's cabin at Upper Twin Lake stands out for the remarkable craftsmanship that reflects his unshakable wilderness ethic. He built the cabin using only hand tools, many of which he fashioned himself. The cabin is a roughly 12-foot by 16-foot structure built of peeled, round spruce logs, carefully saddle notched at the corners. It has a gable roof made of spruce poles, covered by sod and moss.There are three windows. One on the west side, 23 inches by 14 inches, is a single thin plastic panel. The other western window, also thin plastic, is the largest in the cabin, measuring 26-inches by 30-inches. Along the east wall is a 26-inch by 15-inch window. The handmade Dutch door includes beautifully worked wooden hinges and a wooden lock. A beach stone fireplace rises from the south wall. Proenneke had originally covered his cabin and woodshed-outhouse with moss that he obtained within 25 yards of his site. However, moss requires a great deal of moisture to sustain itself on a roof and the relatively dry Twin Lakes environment was not conducive to that. Over thirty years Proenneke added more moss, dirt, and grass seed to his roof resulting in a thin amalgamated mat of all three components. The log cache, or raised storage shed, is located eleven feet south of the cabin. It is 6-feet by 4-feet, built of peeled locally harvested spruce logs that are saddle notched. The cache sits on 9-foot poles. Proenneke accessed the cache with a ladder he hand crafted using local materials. Proenneke located his combined woodshed/outhouse approximately 45 feet east of the cabin. It is made of peeled locally harvested spruce poles, saddle notched at the south end and nailed to corner posts at the north end. The structure is modeled along the lines of an Adirondack shelter, with a slanting shed roof. Proenneke stored many of his tools, along with the wood pile he never let dwindle too low, in this shed. The cabin and outbuildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. The site is recognized nationally for its stature as an excellent and well-known example of an Alaskan bush log cabin. It is also recognized for Richard Proenneke's voice in the preservation of wilderness in Alaska. Proenneke's interests, talents, and circumstances made him influential in shaping and educating the public about the wisdom of conservation of our natural world. We carefully rolled the big spruce log with our peaveys, and it settled into place with a thunk, fitting almost perfectly over the log beneath it. A little fine tuning with axe and chisel and it should fit even better. After six or seven courses, we were finally getting pretty good at scribing and fitting logs for our cabin. As Don Enman strode through the silent winter woods on snowshoes, he carefully surveyed his surroundings. It was the winter of 1960 and he was 39 years old. Alongside him was Dr. McVetty, a popular local family practitioner and the current owner of the woodlot they were cruising. McVetty was thinking of selling and knew that Don had been looking to buy some timberland. Don operated a dairy farm a couple of miles away and had purchased a 100-acre woodlot near the home farm some years earlier, in hopes of supplementing farm income with timber cutting during the winter. He found he really enjoyed the woods work and the idea of owning another woodlot excited him. What a beautiful place! A perfect weekend get away! This place is in the middle of the town but as soon as you get into the cabin you feel the solitude! As if you are isolated in a far away island in a cabin! A perfect place to spend time with your dear ones! Outside they have several activities in the resort like tennis court, basketball court, indoor and outdoor pools and jacuzzi! They also have a convenience store and a Starbucks on site! Also the room has a huge hot tub to relax after all the activities! Beautiful place!
